Today’s Thought

It’s a shame to me that some people feel ashamed because they have a disability.Ā  It’s also a shame to me that someĀ parents feel ashamed of their children’s disability.Ā  I was very lucky that this was not my experience growing up. I was always taught to hold my head high. I’ve never looked for anyone to pity meĀ nor do I encourage anyone to pity themselves.Ā

People’s lives are not over because they have a disability, they just have to find different ways to accomplish things.Ā  The best thing we can have in life is a great support system to cheer us forward.Ā  That goes equally Ā for people with or without a disability.Ā  When people have positive peopleĀ inĀ their lives, so much can be accomplished.Ā  Also, when you are aware of the resources available to you toĀ help you accomplish your goals,Ā you become empowered because you have the ability to get what you need.Ā Ā You also experience increased self-esteem because you were able to overcome obstacles that you believed to otherwise be insurmountable.Ā

What obstacles could you overcome with the proper resource?
